Prim.  Alma Sofo Hafizović, MD, PhD

Subspecialist in Hematology

Graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sarajevo, where she also completed postgraduate studies in experimental medicine and defended both her master’s thesis and doctoral dissertation.

She began her professional career at the Special Hospital for Cardiovascular Diseases and Rehabilitation “Banja Vrućica” and later worked at the War Hospital in Tešanj. She continued her long-term professional engagement at the Clinic for Hematology of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, where she served as a specialist in internal medicine and a subspecialist in hematology, as well as head of the Clinic for Hematology.

She is the author and co-author of numerous scientific and professional articles. She was a member of the team that carried out the first autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and later led the autologous transplantation team at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo. She actively participated in the certification process of the Clinic for Hematology.

In recognition of her long-standing professional work, she was awarded the title of primarius. She is a member of the Association of Hematologists and Transfusion Specialists of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (UHIT), the European Hematology Association (EHA), the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT), and the Balkan Myeloma Study Group (BMSG).
